Lastly, when importing with "Maintain and Resize Square" (again, all other settings the same), the 720x480 graphic has black bars on the bottom and top and looks squished vertically and the 640x480 image covers the screen. I thought that graphics out of 3d packages or programs like Photoshop had "Square" Pixel Aspect Ratios? If this is the case, how come I am getting better results when I am importing with "Non Square" Pixel Aspect Ratios? When I tried using "Maintain Non Square" or "601/709 Non Square" as the Aspect Ratio options (all other settings the same) the 640x480 and 720x480 graphics both look exactly the same under both settings - they completely fill the screen, which is what I am after. However, it goes from side to side and only has the black bars on the top and bottom. Note that the 720x480 graphic with the same import settings looks stretched. ![]() However, on these settings, the graphic only covers the action safe area and I get a black border on the top, bottom, AND both sides. I thought that importing a 640x480 graphic with the following import settings is recommended: I have been trying all the different Avid imports on both files to see which one looks the best and this is where I get confused. I have rendered out one frame as a 640x480 and another as 720x480. ![]() It is for a standard definition project in Avid. I have created an animation in 3ds Max and I am not quite sure at what aspect ratio to render it out as. I am looking for clarification please on the following topic:
